Local Info

Seward... where the mountains meet the sea.
There are so many fantastic outdoor activities here in our little town.

Seward is located 2.5 hours south of Anchorage, on the road system. The drive is absolutely stunning - so leave time for stops and photos along the way!

Our lodge is located in a wooded subdivision approximately 4.5 miles from the town of Seward. Close enough to town for an easy evening out, but far enough away to escape the noise and action of summer tourism.

Having lived in Seward and been involved in the active community here since 2002, we have lots of local insights to share. There are no shortage of activities to keep you busy in this beautiful seaside town... especially if you like outdoor adventure! A few great local activities are listed here - and please feel free to shout for more detailed advice!

SEA KAYAKING : Check out Kayak Adventures for guided sea kayaking tours in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. If you want to get out to Bear Glacier and paddle around large icebergs, then you'll want to give Liquid Adventures a call.

ALASKA SEALIFE CENTER : Check out the SeaLife Center for an up-close view of some of our local wildlife. They have impressive exhibits, touch tanks, and even behind-the-scenes experiences.

BOAT TOURS : If kayaking near the glacier is too sporty for you, and you'd rather go along for the ride... then Kenai Fjords Tours offers great boat trips out to the National Park.  Let us know if you're interested in booking this, and we can book it for you at a discounted cost!

HIKING : There are so many local hikes in the Seward area and on the Peninsula. Just give us a shout and we'll point you in the right direction, depending on weather, your interests, and your energy level!

FISHING : Seward is a prime fishing location, and there are many local outfitters to choose from. Head out on the ocean for a half-day or full-day, or hike inland and fish the local streams and lakes!

WALKING TOURS :  The Painted Whale is a local company run by a resident artist, Justine Pechuzal.  Justine will take you on a walking tour of Seward's many murals, teaching you about history, art, and the people of Seward along the way.  This is a great family-friendly activity, and will depth and understanding to your Seward experience!
